Online Banking Questions

Q: How do I access Online Banking and what does it cost?
A: Setting up your online access is easy with your First National Bank checking, savings, Certificate of Deposit, or Loan account.  It can be accessed by clicking on the Online Banking login from any of our pages.  After doing so, click on "First time users, please click here to register" & follow the instructions.  Access to history and transfers are available at absolutely no charge.  Online Bill Payment allows you to pay 20 bills at no charge each statement cycle once you apply.  Each bill beyond 20 in a statement cycle is $1.00 per month.  Should you sign up for Bill Payment and not pay at least one bill per month, there is a $4.95 charge per statement cycle.

Q: How current is the information I see Online?
A: What you see online is what we can see at the bank.  Your information is updated at the same time  as ours is showing any debit card, ATM, or teller activity throughout the day.  You can also view your current and last statement on the same screen.

Q: Can I look at my transactions anytime?
A: Yes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Q: My biggest concern is the security of my information.  Can someone else get to it and look?
A: Your account information is just as secure online as it is in our physical brick and mortar bank.  We have taken every possible precaution to be sure our system is up to date and using the latest in encryption and security software.

Q: Everyone talks about encryption.  What is it and why does it make everything secure?
A: Encryption is a way to rewrite something in a code that can only be decoded with the proper key.  Similar to how a lock can only be opened with the proper key.  Information can be decoded with only one key, the encryption key.  The key is made up of bits, in our case 128-bits.  This key is determined when you begin your online banking session.  All information sent to and from your computer during this session is encrypted using this key.  In short, encryption makes your internet banking session extremely secure.  As a secondary control, we have installed the use of enhanced login security requiring either a recognized computer or extra validation.

Q: I would like to know more about the security methods.  Where can I learn more?
A: Give us a call and we will be glad to discuss with you the security procedures we have in place (of course, without giving away any of our secrets).  Just call 217-935-2148 to speak with Joshua Shofner or Jan Trummel.
